Dear Kids,
It's July, and summer is in full swing. For me, that means a trip to the beach and spending afternoons at the neighborhood pond or maybe a friend's
swimming pool. I love the water! But I also know that it's important to be careful around water, and it's important to learn how to swim. This month, I spoke with a lifeguard and found out what it's like to have that important job and all of the responsibility that comes with it. And, we've included a few safety rules to remember when you are swimming.
July also means Independence Day and fireworks! I love to lie in the grass, look up at the dark sky and watch it explode with color. You can learn more about Independence Day and the Declaration of Independence in this issue.
Speaking of great things happening in the sky, at the end of the month, we'll be approaching a total eclipse of the sun. It happens on August 1st, but only those in the northeastern part of the United States will be able to see it.
