Going to School in India DVD, Master Communications Age Range: 6 to 12 This 75-minute DVD is a collection of short films, many of them award winners. Through the voice of the child, the films show children in different areas of India and what they go through to get to school. Some go by boat, bicycle, wheelchair or on foot. Other classes, for a child who lives on the streets, are actually held on a bus. One young girl explains that she has to work all day and is not allowed to go to the government school in the day with the boys, so her school is held at night, with no electricity and lit by a solar lamp. The stories, the music and the cinematography are well done, and the viewer has the ability to watch each segment individually or to play all of them in order. Every elementary school child in America should watch this video. We who have so much could learn a great deal from these children who have little in worldly possessions, but have a true love and excitement for learning. It is touching to hear the spirit of these children as they talk about how excited they are to go to school and learn. Many of them have dreams of becoming teachers one day. And with the determination they exhibit, I'm sure their dreams will come true. Proceeds from the royalties of Going to School media go to support the development of more fun media activities for children in India. JK
