Dear Kids,
It's August and time to think about going back to school! But summer doesn't officially end until September 22, so there's still plenty of time to enjoy summer-time activities! I've asked some friends from all over the country what they like to do during the summer. The results are found in my Top 20 list of "Things to Do before Summer Ends."
I've had a great summer so far. I have visited some neat places and met terrific people and animals. In this issue, you can read about peacocks that I met at the Discovery Cove aviary. And, I introduce you to Jesse Pope, a naturalist at Grandfather Mountain. From a train engineer at Tweetsie Railroad to the lifeguard at the pool, I've found that everybody has a story to tell! Just ask questions and listen.
