Turkey Sausage Pizza
June is National Turkey Month. Turkey is a nutritious food and can be much more than Thanksgiving dinner! Turkey has more protein than chicken or beef, but it is lower in fat and calories than other items in the meat group. Its also naturally low in sodium. Try this yummy sausage pizza recipe, using turkey sausage rather than beef or pork sausage. Enjoy it!
Turkey Sausage Pizza
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 lb turkey sausage 1 package (10 ounces) refrigerated pizza crust 1 cup pizza sauce 2 cups part-skim Mozarella cheese, shredded 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
DIRECTIONS:
1. With adult help: In a large skillet, over medium heat, cook sausage until no longer pink; drain. 2. Prepare crust according to package directions for round pizza. Evenly spread pizza sauce over crust. Evenly sprinkle sausage over pizza sauce. Top with cheese and sprinkle with oregano. 3. With adult help: Bake in a preheated 450 F oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and edge of crust is lightly browned. Serve. Makes 4 servings.
