Dear Kids,

Happy New Year! Yes, I know it's February, but this year the Chinese New Year is February 18. So it's New Year's somewhere!

Did you know that February is a great time to learn about history? In February, we celebrate Presidents' Day and Black History Month. I'm sure you'll be studying about both of these celebrations in school this month, but I thought I'd give you a head start!

Also in this issue, be sure to read What It's Like to Be a Dog Sled Musher. I know it may not be cold where you are, but in Montana, Harry and his sled dogs like to run in zero-degree weather. That's way too cold for me! Have you ever heard of Balto? After you read this article and our Come Out & Play on dog sledding, you might want to visit your local library and learn more about Balto and his amazing story.

And it just wouldn't be February without Valentine's Day! This is one of my favorite days. I always make something special for my mom, and I get nice cards from my friends. I just love those candy hearts! Be sure to be sweet to someone you love. Groundhog Day is fun, too, but I hope he doesn't see his shadow so spring will be on the way!

Remember, to send me an e-mail, or to read all the articles from Kidsville News, visit my Web site at www.kidsvillenews.com.

Have a fabulous February!
