Dear Kids, Wow. I can't believe that summer vacation is almost over. Many of my friends will be heading back to school this month! I hope you have had a great summer and are looking forward to a terrific school year!
I sure have had a lot of fun lately. I made a trip to the beach recently and learned a lot about sea turtles. I also rode a ferry and went to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher. There, I got to learn what it's like to be an aquarist. Read all about it in this issue! From the sea to the mountains, I love to travel! I visited Tweetsie Railroad in Blowing Rock, NC, and rode a real steam locomotive! It was quite an adventure.
Speaking of adventures, starting a new school year is a real adventure, too! It's always fun, but maybe a little scary, too, to meet new teachers and friends. If you are a little nervous meeting new friends, pretend you're a reporter like me. Just find some kids you would like to meet and ask them some questions about who they are and what they like to do. Like my mom always says, "To have friends, you have to be friendly!"
Have a great August and enjoy your last weeks of summer vacation and the beginning of school!
